Effective strategy should be evolved for elimination of street crimes. Although the menace of extortion in Punjab is negligible yet a few individual cases have been reported in this regard, so this evil should be nipped in the bud and modern technology should be benefitted for apprehending the criminals involved in heinous crimes”, said the CM while presiding over a high level meeting with regard to eliminating street crimes and extortionists.


CM also said that nothing can be more important than protection of life and property of the people. Police is being equipped with latest technology and being trained on modern lines so they will have to show results. Negligence in public safety matters will not be tolerated, warned the CM. “Provision of immediate justice to the people is my mission and police should adopt the merit policy in providing justice irrespective of any consideration”, expressed the CM. 
Earlier, Chief Secretary, Home Secretary and Inspector General Police gave detailed briefings with regard to law and order situation in the province. Inspector General Police informed that 150 police stations have been computerized while process of computerization of remaining police stations is continuing. CCPO Lahore informed that 12 persons of five gangs involved in extortion have been arrested.
