Pakistan’s envoy at the UN says Pakistan never approved drone strikes on its territory resulting in civilian casualties.

At the United Nations‚ Pakistan has demanded an immediate end to US drone attacks on its territory.

The demand was made by Pakistan’s permanent representative at the United Nations Masood Khan while commenting on a report of UN special rapporteur on human rights and counter-terrorism Emerson.
Masood Khan said Pakistan never approved drone strikes on its territory resulting in civilian casualties.

He pointed out that drone strikes are in violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty and international law.

Pakistan’s envoy said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif also raised this issue with President Obama in his recent visit to the United States.

He said Pakistan hopes that United States would response to this urgent call and stop the drone attacks. He also urged the UN Reporter to make strongly recommendations to help enforce a more stringent‚ prohibitive regimen for use of drones to save civilian lives. (PTV)
